Last week wasn’t great when I got weighed, but it was expected after the holiday and everything. The gain wasn’t as bad as it could have been, but it was a gain. You can read about last week in my post Holidays and Weight Loss.
This week though I needed to be back on it 100%. Deep down I wanted to aim for that 6lbs gain from last week to be gone. But I can’t set myself mini targets each week. When I do, I don’t do well. It’s like I put too much pressure on myself to get that mini target. I obviously don’t deal with that sort of self-pressure very well.
So this week I elected to not give Annette (our lovely Slimming World consultant) a mini target for the week, again. I just wanted to have a crack at losing what I could without the pressure of aiming for something.
So today we’ll talk about that Chinese Takeaway. A little while ago, wifey really wanted to make a Chinese Fakeaway buffet. We had planned the Saturday night originally, but that went out the window when the little one had a funny turn. Sitting in the hospital to see a doc to get discharged with no issue was done instead.
So on the Monday she went all out and made the best Chinese Fakeaway I’ve had. Best of all it was all on plan with Slimming World.
Now depending on your tastes, there are different dishes which everyone loves. If we ever have a takeaway or eat at a Chinese restaurant, we always have a mix of different things and share between us – just what we do. I know some people (like my lil’ brother) will just order they like and have that.
Last week I was disappointed after the weigh-in. I’d lost a whole half a lbs, not really what I was aiming for. But I had a good, long, hard think about why I hadn’t had a good loss then. You can read that here.
This week though, I am glad the report, was a much better week. I started out well. I found my old food journal (where we track everything we eat). I’d identified I wasn’t counting syns properly, if at all. So I set myself a goal of going at this week properly. I made sure I stuck within my syns, I ate as much speed free food as I could. I snacked on fruit instead of syn loaded goodies and made sure a third of my plate was speed free food at meal times.
I realised today I’ve been neglecting the blog this last week. I last posted Tuesday when I was starting to get into a rhythm of posting at least every other day. It’s not that I forgot or anything, I’ve just been so busy this last week.
This week weigh-in on Wednesday evening was the first weigh-in with a full week back on plan 100%. After gaining that 7.5lbs over the Christmas break I was determined to get most of, if not all of, it off again. Starting as if starting the Slimming World plan in Week 1 I kept track of Syns and Healthy Extras like a hawk.
I skipped Wednesday weight night this week. Two reasons lead me to get weighed yesterday morning instead, 1) it was my work Xmas lunch on Wednesday (I am not getting weighed after a 3-course meal) and 2) I wasn’t well Wednesday evening.
I was good this week where possible. Most meals were on plan this week with just a small number of snacky treats in between. I had to use some self-control this week but I just hoped leading up to Saturday that it would help and I’d have another loss, the last one before Christmas.
I love Olaf’s little song about That Time of Year. Having a 4-year-old daughter means this film is often on in our household right now. I don’t mind, the snowman is hilarious – more so than my daughter realizes.
The above image sums up this time of year perfectly in my eyes, sweets everywhere! Treat tables where ever we go and sweets at work, there is just no break from it. The power of will for someone who is trying to lose weight has to be strong right now, otherwise work that has already achieved something can easily be undone again.
I haven’t had a fantastic week food wise. Most meals have been somewhat on plan, but there have been meals that haven’t. We went to see Santa with the Kids at Sundown Adventure Land at the weekend. Now, these sort of places do not know what healthy food is when it comes to their cafes for lunch. Largely their meals consist of Burgers, Hot Dogs or Pizza. But then the wife saw they have Jacket Potatoes – long behold I somewhat kept to plan.
