If you ask most Slimming World members (or anyone trying to lose weight via some sort of plan) if they stuffed their face over Christmas, the likely answer would either be a yes, or a very shady no. Especially Christmas Day, anything resembling a weight loss diet goes out of the window.
I will openly admit this last week while I’ve been away with family I’ve not even thought about Slimming World once. I’ve eaten chocolate & pastries, I’ve drunk beer and I’ve not been on the bike (kinda difficult when I couldn’t take it with me). So from a Slimming World point of view, I’ve done everything but stick to the plan.
I skipped Wednesday weight night this week. Two reasons lead me to get weighed yesterday morning instead, 1) it was my work Xmas lunch on Wednesday (I am not getting weighed after a 3-course meal) and 2) I wasn’t well Wednesday evening.
I was good this week where possible. Most meals were on plan this week with just a small number of snacky treats in between. I had to use some self-control this week but I just hoped leading up to Saturday that it would help and I’d have another loss, the last one before Christmas.
I love Olaf’s little song about That Time of Year. Having a 4-year-old daughter means this film is often on in our household right now. I don’t mind, the snowman is hilarious – more so than my daughter realizes.
The above image sums up this time of year perfectly in my eyes, sweets everywhere! Treat tables where ever we go and sweets at work, there is just no break from it. The power of will for someone who is trying to lose weight has to be strong right now, otherwise work that has already achieved something can easily be undone again.
Who likes a McDonalds Breakfast Bagel? In particular the Sausage, Egg and Cheese Bagel? You may not like McDonalds at all, never been to one in fact, but you may still like the sound of a Sausage, Egg and Cheese Bagel to set you off in the morning.
If a Bagel is your sort of thing, this savory breakfast (or lunch) treat could be well up your street. Only this version is a lot healthier than the McDonalds one and is only 1 syn on Slimming World (when using both your HEa and HEb choices). Even if you’re vegetarian you can enjoy this, as we used the Quorn Sausage Patties to make this wonderful delight.
It is Thursday yet again which again means weigh day was yesterday – that day that anyone part of a Slimming Group often dreads. Yesterday was a little different for me though, I attended an earlier group instead of the usual 7pm group. Not being at work this week and having the in-laws round last night made it easier to attend the 9.15am group.
I wasn’t feeling great about weighing in. The last week hadn’t been on plan for about 40% of the time, the other 60% was though, so I wasn’t really expecting much. Not expecting much put me in a bit of a down mood heading to group as I’ve been chasing that 2st award for weeks now. Often getting close then gaining weight to lose it again.
Anyone who currently attends a regular Slimming World group will know that from the end of December there are some planned changes to the lifestyle change we’re undergoing (don’t ever call Slimming World a diet, they’ll bury you alive). So far we were told there are some exciting changes, things we will be able to have more of, some things less off and we’ll be getting shiny new packs which will cover the changes in the plan.
Nothing can be kept a secret these days and as much as companies try to keep secrets, social media as it is today will allow anyone to spill the beans. Surprise, surprise someone let loose what the changes are – even though we’re not meant to know for another good 5 weeks. This ‘leak’ has lead to our Consultant having to take to our closed Facebook Group to let us know the changes now, so as to not confuse us with anything from Social Media (let’s face it, it being on Facebook doesn’t mean it’s true unless you trust the source).
