Hi. Hello. It’s me, I’m still here. I know it’s been a while since I last posted – 25th March if I remember correctly, which is almost three weeks ago! Time certainly does fly past without you realising sometimes.
I’ve missed posting here. A lot has happened in the last couple of weeks too. Good stuff and not so good stuff.
First off, we’ll get the not so good stuff out the way; I became another year older. It was my birthday last week, which wasn’t brilliant for the weight-loss. I gained 8lbs last week through the birthday week, some meals out and just generally not sticking to plan led to this.
Hectic, that’s how I would describe things at the moment. Between family and work I am finding little time for myself. Little time for myself means fair irregular blog posts. But, I’m trying to set to time aside to fix this.
Things being busy also means other things have taken a little slide of late. Especially in the direction of food. Slimming World is great because when you’re on it, you can often get some amazing weekly results. But there is one catch with Slimming World… you need time. Time to plan, time to prepare and time to execute.
The Slimming World plan is all about cooking healthy food from scratch. Yes there are their own frozen meal range etc, but I refuse to pay those prices – £3.50 for half a meal… I might as well go out for the evening.
If you ask most Slimming World members (or anyone trying to lose weight via some sort of plan) if they stuffed their face over Christmas, the likely answer would either be a yes, or a very shady no. Especially Christmas Day, anything resembling a weight loss diet goes out of the window.
I will openly admit this last week while I’ve been away with family I’ve not even thought about Slimming World once. I’ve eaten chocolate & pastries, I’ve drunk beer and I’ve not been on the bike (kinda difficult when I couldn’t take it with me). So from a Slimming World point of view, I’ve done everything but stick to the plan.
I skipped Wednesday weight night this week. Two reasons lead me to get weighed yesterday morning instead, 1) it was my work Xmas lunch on Wednesday (I am not getting weighed after a 3-course meal) and 2) I wasn’t well Wednesday evening.
I was good this week where possible. Most meals were on plan this week with just a small number of snacky treats in between. I had to use some self-control this week but I just hoped leading up to Saturday that it would help and I’d have another loss, the last one before Christmas.
I love Olaf’s little song about That Time of Year. Having a 4-year-old daughter means this film is often on in our household right now. I don’t mind, the snowman is hilarious – more so than my daughter realizes.
The above image sums up this time of year perfectly in my eyes, sweets everywhere! Treat tables where ever we go and sweets at work, there is just no break from it. The power of will for someone who is trying to lose weight has to be strong right now, otherwise work that has already achieved something can easily be undone again.
Who likes a McDonalds Breakfast Bagel? In particular the Sausage, Egg and Cheese Bagel? You may not like McDonalds at all, never been to one in fact, but you may still like the sound of a Sausage, Egg and Cheese Bagel to set you off in the morning.
If a Bagel is your sort of thing, this savory breakfast (or lunch) treat could be well up your street. Only this version is a lot healthier than the McDonalds one and is only 1 syn on Slimming World (when using both your HEa and HEb choices). Even if you’re vegetarian you can enjoy this, as we used the Quorn Sausage Patties to make this wonderful delight.
