Wifey has really been experimenting of late with some different ideas for Breakfast. We like new things rather than being stuck with the same things to eat week-in-week-out. We also have a requirement of being able to take breakfast to work to eat.
This leads to being creative while trying to keep eating healthy. Different flavours and different textures are all popping up right now. Just last week we had some Savoury Breakfast Muffins which were so versatile it’s unreal.
This week’s little creation is still muffin themed, but rather than the texture of an omelette, it’s really more of what a muffin is. I love these little muffins because they’re also ideal if heading out for some exercise early on. If I was to go out on the bike early doors, these are ideal for chucking down my neck before heading out.
Who likes a McDonalds Breakfast Bagel? In particular the Sausage, Egg and Cheese Bagel? You may not like McDonalds at all, never been to one in fact, but you may still like the sound of a Sausage, Egg and Cheese Bagel to set you off in the morning.
If a Bagel is your sort of thing, this savory breakfast (or lunch) treat could be well up your street. Only this version is a lot healthier than the McDonalds one and is only 1 syn on Slimming World (when using both your HEa and HEb choices). Even if you’re vegetarian you can enjoy this, as we used the Quorn Sausage Patties to make this wonderful delight.
I love a good sandwich and you can’t get a sandwich must better than a BLT (Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato). A BLT sandwich is typically better in the summer when Tomatoes are at their best, but there is something about the saltiness of the Bacon mixed with the crisp, cool texture of the Lettuce and Tomato.
Often across Slimming World Groups people say they struggle with Breakfast ideas. Breakfast is often seen as one of the more difficult meals of the day. People are often limited in thinking breakfast is either Cereal, Toast or a good old English Breakfast, but it doesn’t have to be.
People these days often get to work before having breakfast. I often do, largely because if I eat at 6am then I’m going to be snacking around 9am. I usually don’t have breakfast until 9am/10am when at work. It fits with my morning break and I can then go to Lunch without cravings of rubbish food which I then want to snack on.
These little cups (as I call them) are filling as can be eaten cold (after cooking) or warm.
One of my all time sandwich filler and jacket potato filling is Coronation Chicken. The mild curry taste just has its own place on a sandwich or as a jacket potato filler.
Being a Slimming World member, I would have to syn any pre-made Coronation Chicken fillings. This can range from 2 syns per tablespoon to 27 syns for a pot. When you only have so many syns to use per day you start to look to create low-syn alternatives.
I thought about Coronation Chicken and it’s basically curried powder and yogurt right? That’s all it seems to me, so I set off to experiment. In the end, I add Curry Powder, Cinnamon, and Turmeric to yogurt and lighter than light mayonnaise to create the mixture.
