February is here, too quickly if you ask me. It’ll be December before we know it at this rate. January’s weekly blog was obviously #REDJanuary where I tried to ride my bike every day through January. As it’s now February and Valentines Day is approaching, why not fall in love with food? Don’t forget there is also Pancake Day to worry about, so that’s two events where food is involved coming in February.
Now, this is a Slimming Blog so there will be no posts regarding takeaways, as much as they may be loved (unless they’re of the Fakeaway version). I will be posting ideas and ways of making good healthy food taste like it’s naughty and bad for you. We all sometimes crave that nasty kebab or Chinese dish that we love so much, but there are healthy ways of making the same thing. This is what I’ll be exploring this month
My favourite things to eat when ordering a takeaway or eating out are Chinese, Pizza and a good sloppy Burger.

It’s that time of week again folks, weigh night. This last week has been a long week, so it feels anyway. It’s certainly been a long slog and I’m still tired from the weekend, even though today is Thursday.
I’ve been on-call with work this last week. Often we don’t get called, but this weekend I did, a few times. It started Saturday morning at 3am. Now when I’m called I don’t have to physically go to work, I log on from home (a perk of working in IT). But still, I was working from 3am until 9am when the issue was finally resolved. At this point, wifey told me to go back to bed for a bit. But I was awake and wouldn’t just go to sleep, so I decided to just crack on with the day. I took my eldest for her swimming lesson and then took my youngest to my grandmas for lunch. Just a typical Saturday.
Continue reading A Loss Is A Loss, But I Have To Get Back On It
Now on the final stretch to February. I can’t believe January seems to have gone by so quickly. It doesn’t seem that long ago since it was Christmas and the New Year was breaking in, but here we are 4 weeks into the year already.
This week physically hurt on the bike. My body has never done anything like this every day. Usually, if I exercise it takes me a couple of days to recover, but that seems to be changing. I’m feeling good for the miles I’ve ridden so far this year. I’m already past last years total mileage, so now it’s just about finishing the month off strong.

Plenty of people have heard of Nando’s, that chicken restaurant that sells, well, chicken. Chicken can come plain, it can come a little spicey, a medium spicy and very spicy. However, you like your chicken chances are you’ll find it served like that at Nando’s.
Being on Slimming World, Nando’s is a great place to go for something to eat and keep to plan. If you have chicken with a side salad and corn on the cob it’s free of syns (as long as you remove the skin from the chicken). There aren’t many places you can eat out for so little syns.

Last week I was disappointed after the weigh-in. I’d lost a whole half a lbs, not really what I was aiming for. But I had a good, long, hard think about why I hadn’t had a good loss then. You can read that here.
This week though, I am glad the report, was a much better week. I started out well. I found my old food journal (where we track everything we eat). I’d identified I wasn’t counting syns properly, if at all. So I set myself a goal of going at this week properly. I made sure I stuck within my syns, I ate as much speed free food as I could. I snacked on fruit instead of syn loaded goodies and made sure a third of my plate was speed free food at meal times.

This last week has been difficult. Trying to juggle family time, cycling and spending time with the wife has been tough. I haven’t got on the bike anywhere near as much as I’d like to have done, but I’ve still been on every day.
The week started off OK, completing the usual programs, but by the time I had got to the weekend I struggled to put in the time needed to complete the planned long ride for the Fondo training.
