Most people will agree with me when I say that Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It’s the first thing you eat each day (most of the time anyway) and it breaks the fasting period your body has had during your sleep – hence breakfast.
A lot of people skip breakfast due to not having time to make something. Especially when you’re trying to be healthy and not have any prepacked food. Preparing good healthy meals can be time consuming.
But what if there was something that only takes 20-25 minutes? Or even better, can be made the evening before? Could this solve the old age issue of “I don’t have time to make anything”? Oh yes, it could.

I’m nearly two weeks into Challenge 50 now. Have I lost weight – no, have I covered some decent miles on the bike – not as much as I would have liked.
The weight thing has been a problem in recent weeks. My previous post, 1 Step Forward, 2 Steps Backwards, I explained how I was actually heavier at that point than I was when I started the change to WW. I have a membership with WW until September and there is no way of cancelling it early, though they have given me a free month due to my struggles.
I have enjoyed cooking again though. Every now and then I go through a period of wanting to cook, instead of just letting the wife sort dinner. One of the nicest meals I’ve cooked lately I had to blog about, the Chilli & Paprika Chicken Kebab with Pesto Pasta was just awesome! So much flavour in one dish and very filling. The picture of this even got a fair few likes on Instagram too.

It’s that time of year now, where we have the odd couple of days of sunshine between the days of wind and rain. The typical British Summer of will it rain or will it shine?
This recipe is something light, but feels so much like comfort food. Can be eaten and craved for when the weather is horrid, but is also versatile so it can be cooked on a BBQ when the weather is at it’s best.
I cooked this particular meal for me and wifey last night. By far one of the better meals I’ve ever made. It was so simple too. Not only can you whack these skewers under the grill in the kitchen, but I bet they’d be awesome on a BBQ as well.

8-weeks ago I took the plunge to try something new. Something to try and spur my weight loss into the right direction. I signed up for a 6-month membership plan and I’m now 2-months into said plan. But what do I have to show for it?
I’ve not really kept in my mind what I weighed when I started this plan. It’s not something I particularly wanted floating around adding pressure to me mentally. That, I don’t think has worked. Before I always remembered what my weight was previously. Yes trying to lose a set target added unneeded pressure to me, but I knew where I was on my journey.
I’ve just looked back at the WW app and my weight journey in particular. To say I’m disappointed is an understatement. Yes, I’ve just about lost the holiday weight for our trip to Gran Canaria. But overall I am 2.5 lbs heavier than when I started the plan.

I hate time. Time is not a friend. There is never enough time to do everything. But time is something I need to make. It’s also time to aim for something different.
For year I have been aiming to get myself down to a reasonable weight. For years I have miserably sucked at achieving said aim. Time and time again I tell myself “this time is different, this time I will do it”. I have a good few months, then BOOM! Back to square one again.
Back in my post “It’s Been A While…” I said that I had joined Weight Watchers after leaving Slimming World. Although I’ve not lost a stone that I would expect within the first few weeks with Slimming World, I am enjoying it.
Continue reading Challenge 50: Something to Aim For
Last week I was out the country with family for our warm holiday of the year. This is why I’ve been non-existent in terms of this here blog.
But before we went away, I booked an extra day off from work. Usually my mum does the school run on a Friday for our eldest, but Nanny and Grumps were away in the US of A this particular time (or rather on their way back from). I could have worked from home, but the forcast was decent and it gave me an opportunity to get a decent ride in on my bike.
Leading up to the day off, I had planned a couple of different rides using the Strava Route Builder tool. Strava is great, it’s free (unless you want the added perks) and it allows you to not only track your rides, but plan them too.
The particular ride I eventually went for utilised the trails around where I live. There are a few old mine railways which have been converted to trails for walkers, cyclists and horse riders to enjoy. Once I was happy with the route on Strava, I exported it in GPX format and imported it into Garmin Connect to link it to my Garmin. This way I would get turn-by-turn notifications and wont get lost.
