Making Sense Of It Being Difficult

Why is it so hard? This is something I ask myself every single day. Loosing weight is not easy. It’s largely mind over matter. At the moment, my mind is not helping me. But why is it so hard actually?

Why is it so hard? This is something I ask myself every single day. Losing weight is not easy. It’s largely a case of mind over matter. At the moment, my mind is not winning. But why is it so hard actually?

For most people, gaining weight is a whole lot easier than losing weight. It certainly is for me, I only need to sniff at a takeaway and I’m being asked just how much do I want adding to me. But is there something basic to this? I think so.

A New Chapter

The uncertainty, the feeling of not knowing what the expect. Change can sometimes be a good thing, sometimes not. Hopefully, the changes I am going through at the moment are going to be good.

Last week was very emotional for both me and the wife. Around 11 and a half years ago, I started at a company that had just been bought by BT (British Telecom). Back in March 2008, I started out as a First Line Support Engineer in what was my second IT job since leaving full-time education. Over the years I went from First Line Support to Second Line and then Third Line. I also chucked in a stint at management during that time which I really did not like.

But I didn’t only just progress my career there. A lot changed for me personally too. When I started there I had a girlfriend who I had been with since the end of school. We were growing apart and we broke up. When that happened I had my best of friends around me (they know who they are if they read this) and I also had the woman who is now my wife.

Challenge 50: On Hold

The silence is deadly. Starring at my bike, wondering why. Why is it so quiet? It’s quiet because it’s motionless. It’s motionless because the engine is broken and a bicycle cannot do much without its human engine pushing it along.

I worked to complete a long bike ride more than a week ago (11 days in fact). This involved losing some weight (not as much as I had originally wanted) and it involved getting used to some longer rides, a couple of which I achieved.

But when it came closer to the time, my body stopped me, just like that. A little over a week before the planned ride I had tonsilitis. I’d never suffered with it at any time in my past previously and it was horrible. It started with a bit of a sore throat. That led me to think I was coming down with a spout of man-flu.

It’s Not All Routine

Where do I begin? It’s been a few weeks. I got to admit the last few weeks have not been easy, not in the slightest. But when life throws some decisions and challenges at us, it is how we react and come out the other side that define us

That said, am I in a good place following said few weeks? I don’t know if I’m honest. I’m excited about what the future will bring, but I’m also scared so much because I am miles out of my comfort zone.

Now, this is a weight loss blog. People don’t come here to read about how to keep it together in your head. I’m not here for that. What I am here for is to explain there can easily be a direct correlation between one’s state of mind and achieving a steadfast weight loss each week.

Challenge 50: Low Mileage

I keep thinking to myself it’s coming soon. It’s going to be here quicker than I realise. I mean it seems not long ago since it was Christmas and New Year. So a couple of months (well less than now) is going to come rather quick.

By now I had planned to have seriously added some miles on Boardy (the nickname I’ve given my Boardman ADV – original I know). But for one reason or another I haven’t done it. I have added a few miles on the trainer and Zwift. Being on call the last two weeks has really tied me to home.

As of this evening though I’m no longer on call (until next weekend for a few hours), so I really hoped to get back out on 2-wheels this weekend. If you’re not European, you may not have heard that this weekend is going to be hot. Hot to the point that France has recorded their highest recorded temperature today.

Recipe: Oaty Banana Muffins

Wifey has really been experimenting of late with some different ideas for Breakfast. We like new things rather than being stuck with the same things to eat week-in-week-out. We also have a requirement of being able to take breakfast to work to eat.

This leads to being creative while trying to keep eating healthy. Different flavours and different textures are all popping up right now. Just last week we had some Savoury Breakfast Muffins which were so versatile it’s unreal.

This week’s little creation is still muffin themed, but rather than the texture of an omelette, it’s really more of what a muffin is. I love these little muffins because they’re also ideal if heading out for some exercise early on. If I was to go out on the bike early doors, these are ideal for chucking down my neck before heading out.
