Recipe: Nando’s Style Chicken

Plenty of people have heard of Nando’s, that chicken restaurant that sells, well, chicken. Chicken can come plain, it can come a little spicey, a medium spicy and very spicy. However, you like your chicken chances are you’ll find it served like that at Nando’s.

Being on Slimming World, Nando’s is a great place to go for something to eat and keep to plan. If you have chicken with a side salad and corn on the cob it’s free of syns (as long as you remove the skin from the chicken). There aren’t many places you can eat out for so little syns.

Nando’s Chicken, Salad and Corn on the Cob

Anyway, I’m not here to tell you to go to Nando’s. There is one downside to going and eating there. Money. Just like many people in this day and age, we’re always watching what we spend. Why pay £20 and more for a meal when you can make it for a fraction of the price at home?

At home, we don’t have our Nando’s style chicken with just Salad. We throw on some Slimming World Chips and add in some Southern Style Gravy. We syn the Gravy, we use the Mayflower Gravy that is powdered that you add water too. When made as directed it is so thick and tasty but it’s not too many syns.

Homemade Nando’s Style Chicken, Chips and a Leek ‘n’ Mushroom mix

  • Chicken Breast (skinless if you want it syn free)
  • JD Seasonings Chicken Rub

  • Foil (not to eat, but to cook the Chicken in)

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 160 degrees Celcius (320 degrees Fahrenheit)
  2. Rub the JD Seasonings Chicken Rub onto the Chicken, give it a really good massage if you can stand touching raw Chicken
  3. Make sure to rub into top and bottom of the Chicken Breast
  4. Lay your sheet of foil out and give it a good spray with the FryLight
  5. Place the Chicken on the sprayed foil and wrap it up
  6. Put on a baking tray and place into the oven for 30 minutes (or until the Chicken is cooked through)
  7. Once cooked, serve with chips, rice, salad or anything you prefer

JD Seasonings
We use JD Seasonings in our cooking for flaour. They produce different dry spice and herb mixes for different meals and foods. I do not receive any money or discount from them for mentioning them. I merely only mention them as they are what we use when cooking at home.

Reading this recipe make my mouth water. Yum.

I should confess, am a bit of a wuss when it comes to “spicy” but I have increased my chicken meals since joining Slimming World. I will have to hunt out JD Seasoning in my local supermarket and give this recipe a try.
